#BlogJune 12 – Road trippin’ pt. 3

We crossed the border last night into Victoria. Stopped in Warrnambool overnight and spent the morning there before we got onto the Great Ocean road. Here are my 3 standouts, from west to east.

1. Bay of Martyrs

The first stop we made on the Great Ocean Road. Very pretty.

2. London Bridge

The tune “London Bridge is falling down” comes to mind, and it seems prophetic that the formation was given this name because in 1990 the end part fell off, with 2 explorers on it! They weren’t hurt, and had to be rescued by helicopter. In the observant words of the little girl next to us at the lookout, “it looks like someone got a big huge knife and cut it off!”

Moral of the story: don’t call a landmark “London Bridge” unless you’re prepared for it to fall down!

3. The twelve apostles.

Obvs.

Absolutely inspirational. The crowds were out, of course, though I am sure it gets a whole lot busier at other times of the year. It was funny to observe that most people in the crowd were taking selfies (with or without selfie sticks) with the 12 apostles in the background. Reflecting on the natural landscape I thought about how many generations of people would have looked at the same view, and how the way of documenting it has changed so much.
